THE GOP and YOU & ME (Not so perfect together!)

Just what does the GOP stand for?
Well we know what they're against!

The list below shows the trump desired and GOP approved and backed budget changes by agency along with services they will affect.  The numbers in parentheses show the percentage trump wants taken away from these agencies.

You may agree with some and not with others but overall they point to a complete lack of compassion for and understanding of the needs of the citizens of this country!

I give you the trump 2018 budget:

It seems as though for my entire aware life the only promises Repubs have kept are the ones for the wealthiest of the country and in some cases the World. As for the rest of us, the bulk of the voters we've only been given fantasies and hope.
But facts are facts.
Perhaps that's why the GOP hates science and reason.
The wealth gap in America has widened considerably ever since god Reagan (Ronald or Nancy, one cannot be completely certain which) started the downfall of the Middle Class.
Household income has continuously dropped while the top 1 or 2% have not only become wealthier but also less taxed.
Our national debt has risen under every Repub President.
The debt is lowered under every Democratic President.
Yet most people believe the GOP lie that it's the other way around. Democrats are the tax and spend party thus raising the debt.
Here's one of those annoying facts of life:
In order to spend money you must have money.
Sounds intuitive but trust me I can point to at least 62 million voters who don't understand it.
One way to raise the Nat'l Debt is to declare and wage war without raising money (taxes) to pay for it.
Nobody wants to pay higher taxes but if we give tax breaks to people who can most afford to pay higher taxes where will the money come from?
THE MIDDLE CLASS, or what's left of it will have to pay!
But people may start to catch on to the tactic so instead of actually raising middle class taxes the GOP cleverly reduces funding for services the middle class relies on.
Oh nothing fantastic you see, just healthcare and school lunch programs and anything not needed by the wealthy donors of the country!
The bottom line is that during my lifetime, and sadly I'm no teen, one political party has consistently and ruthlessly and unabashedly done everything in their power to steal from the poor and give to the rich! And in return the rich have always shown their appreciation with commission checks in the form of campaign dollars and countless perks for the families of the Repubs.
As I enter my so called golden years the race is on. Will the American voter finally wake up and see who is and who is not on their side before I am no longer an aware human being?
Next shot comes in just under 2 years.
Fingers crossed!

Putie & Kim Jong & all other shitheads
Gunmen & G-Men & young girls in their beds
Lying to masses, the anger it brings
These are a few of his favorite things.

Closing our borders to anyone not white
Pander to needs of the nuts on the far right
Hobnob with rulers, dictators, and kings
These are some more of his favorite things,

When he sounds dumb
He won't be glum
No use feeling sad
He simply remembers those showers of gold
He's happiest when he's bad!

(Hopefully this show won't run as long as the original!)

Getting rid of filibusters and lowering the number of Senators needed to pass bills in Congress back down to a simple majority hasn't happened in ages since the party in the majority is always worried about reprisals when the pendulum swings and they find themselves in the minority.
The only way one party would risk setting this precedent (or president as dt would spell it) is if they were certain they could gain and hold the majority in Congress for decades.
There are strong hints that the Repubs are in fact ready to risk the wrath of the majority of American citizens by doing just that! This would effectively render the Democratic Party obsolete.
The insidious Repub Party has quietly gerrymandered districts across America for decades and in doing so changed the political landscape in their favor.
The plan has slowly but surely given them the edge in more and more elections. And even though there are more registered Democrats nationwide their votes do not create majorities in many States. This means fewer Democratic Senators and far fewer Representative in the House.
Every American interested in fair government should treat themselves to a look at their own election district map. In many cases the outline looks like a huge bowtie with possibly as small a center as one block!
This pulls and pools all the Democratic leaning voters into one district while splitting those of Republicans into several districts of their own. And this absurdity could result in 1 Representative for Democrats but possibly 3 or 4 for the Repubs in districts that used to be the other way around.
How can they get away with this?
Every 10 years whichever political party holds the majority in their State gets to redistrict or gerrymander their territory. The next chance human beings have to stop this awful trend toward the dark side is 2020.
The 2018 so-called midterm elections are unbelievably important as we can send a message to Congress that we're mad as hell and, well you know.
But after that the most important vote of our lifetime will take place during the 2020 Presidential election.  At that time we must get rid of President Pence or Bannon or Putin, or whoever is pulling the strings by then.
If we can't turn the Ship of State around we are headed for a titanic-like disaster.

If I don't suggest what tune you should use to sing this post then I can't be sued by Billy Joel, right? 😀  So you're on your own!

Muslim ban, Putin fan, followed by the white sheet clan
Build a wall, make it tall, civil rights is dead
Email hack, scruples lack, crazy acts, alternative facts
Comey, homey, tweet tirades from your bed

Party schism, nepotism, taxes hidden, News forbidden
Plagiarize, telling lies, defund everything
Inauguration crowd-gate, How’m I doing ain’t I great
Bad Trump steaks, promise breaks, cronies in the West Wing

We didn’t vote for Donnie
The Electoral College
Picked a guy with no knowledge

We didn’t vote for Donnie
And with nukes he’s flirting
While the country’s hurting

Tax breaks for your friends, disenfranchise never ends
Healthcare, I don’t care, tariffs now placed everywhere
Selling access, voter fraud, fake news, no peace accord
Fox News, right wing views, that crazy orange hair

We didn’t vote for Donnie
With the nukes he’s flirting
While the country’s hurting

We didn’t vote for Donnie
But he has the football
And if pissed well that’s all

Alec Baldwin Kelly Anne, phony college, business plan
Oil pipelines, bad faith deals, stop the needy’s food stamp meals
Fan the fires, muzzle aides, EPA will soon be lost
Bankruptcies, detainees, protest march, atrocities
Executive powers, Golden showers, all at such an awful cost

Blown away
What more do I have to say?

We didn’t vote for Donnie
Know the man’s not worth piss
Read the book Red Notice

We didn’t vote for Donnie
With the nukes he’s flirting
While the country’s hurting.

We didn't vote for Donnie
But while he makes no sense
Look behind & there's Pence.

I sincerely believe that the wonderful and talented Sammy Davis Jr would not be too upset with this slightly altered version of one of his great hits.

Gonna build me a big wall
Don’t need no bill
Gonna build me a big wall
Like I said I will
Gonna build me a big wall
Gonna build it high
I don't know how I'm gonna do it
And really even don’t know why

Gonna get me a gold stream
Flowing warm and true
Gonna bathe in that gold stream
Till I'm turning blue
Gonna love that gold stream
I am telling you
Gonna build a big wall and a gold stream
Gonna make them both come true

Gonna be in heaven
While you’re all in hell
Gonna be in heaven
So you can go to hell
When I build my big wall using all your cash
Then I sit in my gold stream at the big wall
And I'll be in pig heaven there.

With apologies to Arthur Laurents please sing this post to the tune of, well you know!

I’ll be great
I’ll be swell
Even while the whole world goes to Hell
I was PUT IN this place
To destroy human race
And nothing’s gonna stop me till I’m through!
Honey I’m gonna raise Mid class taxes
So all the workers get axes
I’m gonna kill regulations
That cause pain for corporations
Everything I do will work well for me

Now’s my inning
Watch my bank account soar
I’ll keep winning
This is what power is used for!

I AM great
I AM swell
And the rest of you can go to Hell
Startin here startin now
I’m the best
Hear me yell
That everything I dreamt of will come true
Honey everything’s comin up bright lights and party time
Everything’s gonna be fake fights and party line
Everything’s coming up aces for me

Partisanship in DC has become the single greatest threat to a working governmental environment and we the people have been caught in the crossfire.
Who is doing what to whom?  Fingers can be pointed at both parties so which side is more to blame?  How do the Republicans and Democrats differ?
One striking difference between the two major political parties in America today is that if a Democrat in power has a good idea the Republicans will go out of their way to block it rather than give the other side a victory.
The GOP seems to think government is a game and they own the ball. If you’re not going to play me then I’m taking my ball home!
The other side of the coin has not been as steadfast a rule since the Democrats have been willing to join the Republicans should they ever come up with a good idea for the entire country.
It’s this childish mentality that caused Mitch McConnell to declare his vow to block everything President Obama tried to accomplish during his tenure as leader of the free World.  He even went so far as to state that his number one job was to make Mr. Obama a one term President!
McConnell and his teammates tried to stop any attempt to give Americans affordable healthcare. Then they wasted time in Congress that could have been spent governing and moving America forward by wasting tax payer dollars constantly voting to repeal the life saving bill.  With nothing in mind to replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) it’s clear they just cannot allow history to show that Mr. Obama and the Democrats accomplished something good!
And to tie this act of partisan childishness together with the main theme of the post the ACA was fashioned after Massachusetts’ so called Romney Care!
What were major differences between the two plans? Aside from the fact that one covered only people in one State not much.  Of course one was proposed and put forth by a white Republican.  Hmmm, I can’t think of too many other differences except the scale of the project and the fact that the ACA would help many more lower income families going forward.
And to bring another fact into light note that the Massachusetts legislature that went along with and worked on Romney Care alongside the Republican governor was overwhelmingly controlled by Democrats. They felt that giving the people a win was more important than blocking one for the Republicans!
One other point among so many I could note is that President Obama nominated a judge to the Supreme Court a year ago and even though Mr. Merrick Garland was considered by Republicans to be an incredibly fair judge they refused to even meet with him!  Many were quoted in the past saying Judge Garland would make a very fine choice for the Supreme Court.
What changed?
Oh, right!
The Democrats are starting to learn that this tactic, when used with a media blitz and fake news stories may actually reward bad behavior with reelections, control of Congress and even the White House.
But going forward I am certain the Democrats will not abandon their love of country as have their political opponents.  I don’t see the minority in Congress begging foreign powers to hack the GOP for dirt to embarrass them and take them down. The mere thought of doing so used to be considered treasonous.
I am also certain that should the odd and occasional good idea come forward from the other side of the aisle the Democratic Party will embrace it.
So if the Democrats want to help Americans and the ever shrinking Middle Class survive the next two or four years they will have to play ball.  After all bullies always seem to have a way of winning, at least until their followers finally realize that the truth is they don’t care about anyone but themselves!
