WWLS
Surely everyone has heard the acronym WWJD.
It stands for: "What Would Jesus Do?"
And I believe it is fair to say that were he alive today the man of peace would not approve of anything the current GOP candidate for President of the United States says or does.
But Jesus is a figure from over 2,000 years ago and in some ways irrelevant today.
So how about someone from our recent history?
Someone with a fairly high approval rating among both or most political parties?
Sadly the man of whom I speak is also long gone but his thoughts are not. They are preserved in quotes passed down from generation to generation.
Ladies and gentlemen I give you a new metric upon which to measure Donald Trump:

And if you still think you wish to have the Donald as the leader of the free world and in control of America's nuclear football:
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.
And then make sure your fallout shelter is well stocked.
And finally in Lincoln's own words he directs us, no begs us not to believe in the likes of Donald Trump but to reject him, shun him and keep him and others like him as far away from power as is humanly possible!
We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.
The party of Lincoln approved this message, albeit quietly so as to not incur the wrath of their current standard bearer!

Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is
The title of this post is an oft used comeback against someone who says
something you think is outrageous or at least insincere.
But many do put their money where their mouths are or at
least where they silently want everyone else’s mouths to be.
I am speaking of the silent majority of political backers
also known as lobbyists.
These days the more money some people have the more they
want and they’ll do anything to get it.
And if it means hurting or harming a majority of others to reach their
goal so be it!
The bottom line IS their bottom line and money is the way they
keep score.
Today my newspaper showed three candidates running for county supervisor but a quick glance merely showed their photos and the amount of money they have collected in donations. The subliminal message was clearly we do not need to vote because the man with the most will most likely win! And sadly the trend of putting the worst man or woman for the job in place will most likely continue.

Of course power enters into the equation as well but without
money you may find yourself powerless.
Grass roots movements are definitely not a thing of the past
but certainly not as powerful as they used to be and that is by design. And the designers are those in power and
those with enough money to keep them there.
President Obama won his first election by obtaining an
incredible amount of money with which he was able to get his message across. He did this with a grass roots organization that collected enough small donations to make the total impressive even by today's standards.
You can be the smartest person in the world and have the
best ideas for the most people alive but without money or backers with cash
your message remains in your dreams.
The Republican Party is nothing if they are not deviously
smart and they see how to keep or get power in America.
Most of the candidates on the proverbial right side of the aisle
probably do not believe half the things they say or promote, at least one can
hope, but they know their constituents do so they say them.
But the real problem in America today lies in the wallets of
the wealthiest greedy power hungry few who spend millions like most of us spend
quarters.
These quiet behind the scenes types are insidious. They know how to dangle their bait in front of
unscrupulous politicians afraid of losing a seat in Congress and thus having to
actually work for a living!
Their money allows the words they wish to say to come out of
their puppets mouths.
If every American of the so-called 98% group donated one
dollar to the same cause it would amount to around $300,000,000! That is approximately half the amount Sheldon
Adelson threw away backing the Mittster in the 2012 Presidential campaign And
he is promising to double it going forward!
Now admittedly he has only one vote and the 98%ers have
around 200 million votes assuming everyone went to the polls next time so he
could easily be outvoted but… (I left out those under the voting age.)
Let’s face it, there are too many among us in the country that
have little knowledge of what is going on in government and many more who just
don’t care. Then there are the ones who
actually believe the crap spewed by the puppets of Adelson and friends. And his friends while not that many have
wealth nearly beyond belief!
Take the Koch brother, Please!
The basically useless Koch boys inherited daddy’s business
and starting from the humble amount of billions have been able to make even
more billions in their effort to pollute the world. Their causes are generally
bad ones for the future of mother Earth but they know they’ll be long gone
before our children and grandchildren have to wear gas masks and protective
clothing and move to higher ground merely to survive so they continue their quest
for more money at all cost!
And they too donate and donate wildly.
One such donation was recently uncovered as David tried to
block a PBS documentary entitled Citizen Koch.
An obvious reference to one of the greatest films of all time, Orson
Welles’ Citizen Kane which was about a ruthless wealthy man hell bent on having
his views become those of the world. The
movie was a loosely veiled shout out against Citizen Hearst and clearly not a
love note.
And with the money flowing the Republican Party has turned to voter suppression as an additional way to secure a long future in power for their wealthy backers.
In other words the more their money helps their mouths speak the less they listen to yours!
Be afraid - Be VERY afraid!

So how can we stop the creeping creepy creeps who flaunt
their wealth and get their way by silently pulling strings in the public
sector?
Well for one when we hear a politician say something odd or
espouse a cause that may not be right for the majority of Americans we can look
to see from whose mouth the words are actually emanating. Follow the money back to its source.
Then ask yourself if you would want that puppet master to
run your City or State or you America.
The answer will most likely be a resounding no!
Then use your hand next November and every November from now
on to put your vote where your head is!

Enemies Mine
Of course I am not speaking of mindless evil minded
terrorists who care only about killing but rather those with defined
differences in ideologies. Some are
jealous of our success and frustrated with their own government.
For example the leadership of Iran
is an enemy who funds terrorists and insurgents around the world in an effort to
harm America
and our allies. If you were to analyze
their motives you might come away shaking your head at the stupidity of it all. But the citizens of that repressed society
actually admire America !
In Pakistan
the leaders have banned Valentine’s Day saying it promotes vulgarity among the
masses. Yet they don’t seem to have any
problem with suicide bombings.
Creating tension for the sake of creating tension is a form
of insanity. Fox news and their puppets on
the right have long been proponents of doing just that.

And when a nation or group hates America they generally point to our
leader or leaders as the focal point of their anger.
In that respect President Obama is no different from his
predecessors and he definitely has his share of haters around the world. But he holds the dubious distinction of having
more enemies to deal with than any American President before him. And that’s because so many of these haters
ARE Americans.
I am not just talking about a simple political partisanship
hate used to stoke a voter turnout fire but rather a deep seated intense
possibly racially motivated and totally irrational violent hate that is so unfounded and unreasonable
as to border on insanity. And that
border is as thin as it is porous.
Take the Republican Party in Congress and the first words
out of the mouth of Senator Mitch McConnell after Mr. Obama became President
Obama. “Our number one job is to make
Obama a one term President.” The stance
morphed a bit in 2012 to, “Our number one job is to get Obama out of office.”

One certainly could have hoped that the Republican Party
would have made fixing the economy and helping Americans their top priority but
then one would have been terribly wrong!
And every step of the way since making that nearly
terrorist-like statement aimed at dismissing what the majority of voters indicated
they wanted McConnell’s party has acted irrationally. They voted against their own bills when and
if the President came on board. They
back tracked on every piece of legislation they had originally proposed once
the President agreed with them.
In a sort of comic ‘Bizarro World’ fashion Mr. Obama would
have had to say he was against something in order to get it enacted! And when he moved closer to their stance in
negotiations they slithered further away to the right until they couldn't get
much farther lest they fall off the face of the Earth. And still they would not compromise. In fact many in their camp consider compromise
to be a curse word avoided at all costs.
And with the silent filibuster many of these cowardly lions
of the Republican Party hid behind a loophole in the Senate regulations to stop
his every attempt at moving America
forward. Mr. Obama has had the least
amount of appointees approved by Congress since time began and had to suffer
through a record number of filibusters aimed at creating a stagnation nation.
The Party of NO has even had the nerve to stop him from
appointing his own cabinet members! What’s
next, telling him who he may have dinner with?

Right wing lunatic Grover Norquist, who has never been
elected by any human to any office, has had a hold on the Republican Party for
years. He actually stated that his party
of choice should allow the President a tiny increase on our ‘debt ceiling’
every 3 months and let him continue raising it ONLY IF HE BEHAVES! Who the hell is this little weasel to demand
the duly elected leader of the country behave?

And speaking of hate mongering weasels, how about a many times failed billionaire with horrendous hair constantly seeking publicity who demands to see proof that Mr. Obama is who he says he is?
But he and his ilk are not alone and the message they
promote is repeated across the under educated world of Fox News network viewers
and readers.
Many Americans who tend to live in this ‘bubble’ are unaware
of the terrible tactics these so called leaders of their party were and are pulling. They became disillusioned with the President
and turned against him. And as any
self-fulfilling prophesy will do this fueled the feverish fires of the Republican
Party further. They saw their evil
tactics being rewarded so they doubled down their efforts to ruin the economy
and keep Americans unemployed or underemployed at best.
But the President was reelected. And for the second time he garnered a majority
of the popular vote. And Congress remains mired in a record low approval rating.
So one would guess they would change
their tactics. And once again one would
be wrong.
Some of the Republican Party have taken to calling for less
stupidity in their ranks realizing the public perception is finally taking a
turn toward reality. It may be too
little too late.
Growing up I was told that when you hate someone it only
hurts you. That may be true but when the ‘you’ that’s doing the hating happens
to be an entire political party there is bound to be a great deal of collateral
damage!

The More You Have The Less You Are!
In general it has been my observation that people with less give more of themselves to those in need than those who are well off.
Maybe they are sheltered from the reality of the day to day lives of billions of people who merely wish to live and enjoy their time upon this Earth without worrying that the next guy will steal everything they own.
The average person wants a leader to at least understand how much a quart of milk costs and how the rising cost of gasoline affects their lives. The average mother or father wants their leaders to understand how important a good education for their children is and that they should not try to hinder that in any way.
And for the most part, without using the terrible word socialism, the average family wants to know that should they need help from their government it will be there for them and not vilify them for needing assistance!
But for some reason the more people make or have or, for that matter steal and hide, the less likely they are to give to the needy. And that goes for individuals as well as government.
The mentality of these cretins starts to lean toward that of a miserly greedy selfish being who can think of only one thing, amassing a larger fortune and keeping it hidden from the tax man.
But don't think this phenomenon is just an American trait, although we seem to have some who have perfected it and even used it to get themselves in position to be elected President.
No, this is a human, or as some may argue a sub-human trait that transcends physical borders.
This week a tiny article surfaced that did not draw much attention in the States as it did not concern the upcoming election or a useless 'Page Six' celebrity.

The article is about the former Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi.
This 76 year old billionaire - let me repeat that in a slightly different order of words - HE'S A BILLIONAIRE AND HE IS SEVENTY SIX YEARS OLD - was convicted and sentenced to 4 years in jail for the heinous yet rampant crime of TAX FRAUD!
One might ask which came first, the obscene fortune or the scheme to make it by cheating on his taxes.
I posit that it has to be a hybrid of the two but no one can argue that the two do not go hand in hand.
In America we have all kinds of proposals to help our economy and many include an arbitrary income of $250,000 above which taxes should be raised while leaving those with less alone to muddle through their daily lives unscathed.
In that spirit I ask what is the level of income, or theft, or hidden assets, above which one turns to a life of crime.
For surely tax evasion is a crime.
But that crime is multiplied ten fold when the criminal is a career politician and especially when that career criminal politician is running for President on a platform that hinges on his success in business!
This type of ploy is worthy of the highest Chutzpah award!
For those not familiar with the term it emanates from the case of the young man brought to court to face the charge of killing his parents. He pleads with the judge, "Have mercy your honor, I'm an orphan!"
The wealthiest Americans are using a small, to them, portion of their wealth to keep or place the most friendly, wink wink say no more politicians into office.
These soon to be bought and paid for political puppets will continue to allow the wealthy owners of government free rein as they seek out more and more lucrative tax shelters and tax havens and tax friendly countries in which they can park their money far from the reach of the IRS.

Politics is The Same Everywhere
Nasty evil men used to stand in the shadows to do their
dastardly deeds. They’d hide from the light of day and when caught they’d
slither away. But it seems they all slithered to government.
They say all politics is local. That is true, but it’s
also national and International and all of it is in dire need of
fixing!
First local:
In Nassau on Long Island we are facing a $45M year end deficit that all
sides claim is due to infighting. Republican county comptroller Mr. Maragos
blames the shortfall on the minority Democrats failing to work with the current
administration!
Does anyone sense a theme here?
Republican majority comptroller blames the Democratic
minority for our woes on Long Island while in
DC the Republican overall minority blames the Democratic majority for all the
woes in the country!
So which is it gentlemen?
Clearly the Republican Party from local and all the way
up to Federal levels wants it both ways and they want it at the expense of those
who can least afford to pay.
At least on LI we must stop the finger pointing and
start the handshaking! Get it done or get gone!
On Long Island they are
in command but continue to give away the store to the wealthy at the expense of
the middle class.
At state level we see so many examples of new laws that
border on draconian evil as to make us wonder what century we are living in, let
alone year.

Of course the Republican governors of those medieval
States claim possible voter fraud as the reason to target so many voters who
coincidentally just happen to be Democrats.
But the fact that the instance of that type of fraud has
been negligible for decades, unless you count their actions does not seem to
enter into any argument.
And finally we come to the center of the web of evil,
DC.
The minority Republicans continue to filibuster anything
that might help the middle class while allowing the wealthy to continue their
exorbitant and obscene existence.
On any given day you can witness one or more Republican
Senator or Congressman trot himself out to a microphone and bemoan how President
Barack Hussein Obama is handing the country over to one or another group that is
out to kill us all and eat our babies.
Of course one Senator at least had the decency to
proclaim that he would not do the job for which his constituents elected him.
In January 2009 and continually since then he promised to do only one thing for
four years, work his enormous tail and set of jowls off to see to it that
President Obama would not get a second term.
It did not matter to this hypocrite whether or not Mr.
Obama could be the best President the country ever had, he just wanted him
out!
And the height of hypocrisy is the current Republican
candidate for President, or as the media must call him until the convention, the
Presumptive Nominee.
Presumptive is a great word for Willard Mitt Romney
since he presumes to know what’s good for America

former middle class citizens still have so that they cannot vote

Well the answer to that last question is one of the
driving forces behind Mitt’s desire to be America
The microcosm of government that is Long Island can show us a great deal about how politics
works or does not but you have to view the large stage, the show that is
Congress and the people who control it to get a real feel for how broken our
system is.
And when I say the people who control Congress I am of
course NOT speaking about the actual Congressmen and women we elected but rather
the billionaires and special interest lobbies behind the
curtain.
The unelected overlords who don’t even bother to whisper
their demands in the ears of our elected leaders anymore are in full control of
the country.
And with every bill, every decree, every law that is
passed by DC we see the inequity of their choices.
When farm subsidies are altered so that only the
wealthiest of corporate farms can benefit or when food stamp programs are cut
and the savings handed over to those wealthy concerns we see the ugly underbelly
that is Washington
Or when big oil dumps millions of life killing barrels
of Black Death into the Gulf of Mexico and gets
nary a slap on the hand we see the long arm of special interest and the lack of
power the individual has in his own life or livelihood.
They say in order to defeat corruption you must start by
shining a light on it! We’re gonna need a bigger light!

Republican Music 2012
With one debate after another this season of the Republican Primary has turned into a mass of blurry BS sprinkled with hypocritical hogwash aimed at bamboozling enough un and under educated voters as possible.
Sadly it has worked so far as the candidates who have dropped out of the race are not much worse than the ones remaining.
None of us are without faults but most of us don't lie for a living. Well I just lost any trial lawyers who read my blog.
As human beings many if not all of us have trouble remembering all the facts.
But it is equally true that when long pieces of information or soliloquies are put to music or placed in pleasing rhyme schemes they may become, well, memorable.
I was never in a Shakespeare play nor did I commit any of his works to memory but I can recite the "tomorrow and tomorrow..." piece as well as anyone this side of Richard Burton and friends.
So for the aid and assistance of those of you who's eyes have blurred and ears are aching listening to the phony rhetoric spewing from both sides of the mouths of the Republican Presidential hopefuls I offer four simple poetic (I hope) explanations of their character.
In no special order I give you:
The Song of Romney
I know I was flawed as my bank account soared
I made money hand over fist
And you who have clawed
To pay your room and board
Are surely at me quite pissed
But vote for me now and I'll show you how
To make all your small dreams come true
And this I here vow
if my fortune you allow
Past the tax code unscathed to sneak through
Newt's Plaint
I know I was harsh on old Bill
When his Presidency I tried to kill
Sure I too had a fling
But I gave her a ring
And next time and again I will!
Ron Paul Bearer's Wish
Like Humpty upon his great wall
Should any of our poor people fall
If bones they do break
To the hospital take
Their own money, not mine AT ALL!
And finally:

A woman's body's her temple

I hope these little ditties make it easier for all voters when they pull that important lever come November. America's future rests in their hand heaven help us!

After carelessly comparing his skills as a bowler to those of a handicapped

House spokesperson attempted to defuse the situation by promising to keep a watchful eye for any cracks in the President's path in the future. While not wishing to lend any credence to the century old rhyme concerning cracks and backs the spokesperson did did try to allay the fears of the Moe Rahn's and the IDIOTS everywhere.
The White House continued their statement, "We must be clear that the President wishes no harm to any law abiding citizen or groups of citizens including IDIOTS."

The New BUT Heads
After butting heads with Rush Limbaugh the Republicans learned their lesson. Their new party line became, "We want the President to succeed, BUT..." "None of us want him to fail, BUT..."
This complete U-turn goes against Limbaugh's much repeated statement to the contrary. At first elected officials of the GOP complained that Rush's words were being taken out of context but they were proven wrong by 'going to the videotape' (with homage to Warner Wolf.) There for all the world to see and hear the self-serving entertainer and spiritual leader of the party speaks the damning words himself. And still any party member who went against him was rebuked and forced to recant and apologize. There is no word on whether kissing his ring was sufficient.
But has their position changed?
Not Really!
Note the single word quietly added after their new statement about Presidential failure. The word is BUT.
When do we use that word?
We generally use it to contradict our own statement as in "I love that outfit you're wearing, BUT is it really right for you?"
The end result is as obvious as if we had said, "Why would you wear that???"
So has the Republican position changed? Not really - No BUTs about it.

The RACE for the Presidency
It has always been below the surface, lurking around the corner or hiding under the bed. Race and the differences or even similarities therein are always with us. And now more than ever or at least since the time of the 13th amendment in 1865 it is at the forefront of our lives.
Little by little nearly everything said by the two front running candidates for the Democratic Presidential nomination is being translated into a sort of race language.
But there is also another issue that should be considered. Equally as oppressive as is the racial divide is the below the surface, lurking, hiding issue of gender. While not as physically violent it is nevertheless as real as its counterpart. Women can point to 1922 and the 19th amendment for their first step toward equality.
And so whatever is said by these two ground-breaking candidates it is also couched into terms of gender.
So and so played the race card while so and so played the victim and cried. Both sides are at fault but neither side can be faulted. We are to blame.
Just by answering the polls we propagate the stupidity.
And many in America commit the worst crime they could possibly commit, VWU Voting While Uninformed. A supposed majority of voters did so in 2000 and most assuredly once again 2004. It is up to us to get past the publicity and the rhetoric. We must understand what is at stake and look at the big picture. The next President of the United States must hit the floor running if we hope to regain our stature in the eyes of the world.
When Senator Clinton made the terrible mistake of attributing Dr. Martin Luther King’s success in his fight for Civil Rights and Voting Rights to then President Lyndon Baines Johnson she slighted her opponent’s supporters. How dare she say that a white president was needed to get justice for the black community? First of all a president was needed to help get the bill through congress and turn it into law. Se
cond of all there have only been white presidents so far. And last of all she was correct. Anyone interested in checking this out please go back and read.
This does not nor should it cast any aspersions on the work of Dr. King but facts are facts and the two men worked hand in hand to get the job done. If our next President is Black then issues and problems of particular concern to the White community will have to be championed in part by that Black President in order to be resolved.
Luckily in this country we have a constitution and a government of checks and balances. And while it may not take a village to get things done it does take more than one person. This makes it hard for any one man, or woman to rule as a tyrant or dictator (sorry W.) Dr. King’s ideals were no-bra
iners but they could not become laws without changes to our constitution.
After 143 years of struggling for freedom a black or African American man has a very real chance of becoming the President of the United States of America.

ter 86 years of head butting against the all too real glass ceiling in our country a woman has a very real chance of becoming the President of the United States of America.
It is up to us. We the People must get past the rhetoric. Both Democratic candidates are deserving of our praise but both of them have their own ideas and ideals. Both of them could do our country proud as president. But if either of them wishes to be President they must put gender and RACE out of the race.
