This came to my email inbox from a group calling themselves The Pen

It is noted as satire and I repeat before you read it that it is indeed satire. But is sure is right on satire.

A lot of people may not know that Benedict Arnold, the most infamous of colonial traitors, a prominent revolutionary war general who endeavored to sell surrender of the fort at West Point for a price, published a series of open letters to the "Inhabitants of America"

justifying himself. Here are some selected excerpts from those letters.

From Letter 1: Don't believe a word you hear from all the fake town criers. I've never talked to a loyalist or a Tory, not even one time, even though my wife's father is one. These are all lies and more lies, told by people who will say anything to win, disgusting and sad. Why, even now I am on my way to West Point to assume command there, and we will have so many brilliant victories you will get tired of winning. 

From Letter 2: OK, I admit that I met with Major Andre, representative of King George the 3rd, but nothing came of it. Yeah sure, I told them I wanted 20,000 pounds to disclose our troop movements and to dissipate our supply depots, which I in fact did.

And to demonstrate my transparency, I've released the offer of collusion letters that were just about to be published anyway. But they didn't give me any money up front, so it's all just a little bowl of cold nothing porridge. 

From Letter 3: Hey, I'm sitting here fat and happy in Great Britain right now, at least I got 6,000 pounds out of all this, which I'm using to speculate in real estate . . . really. Just barely managed to slip through enemy lines before George Washington's forces could catch up to me, with orders to hang me on the spot. They hanged Major Andre though, tough for him. Anyway, you'd all be better off if you were still subjects of the king. Anybody would have done what I did, everybody says so, and I have nothing but contempt for anyone who does not agree.

ABCs of the GOP

When in the minority the GOP blocked every possible move to make America great and move us forward in the World. And with every bill or rule they blocked they blamed the Democrats for not getting anything done.

But as bad and un-American as these terroristic tactics were they pale next to the fact that uneducated under-informed voters in America rewarded this terrible behavior by electing them into the majority.

Actually, a majority of Americans voted for the Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton.  But the Electoral Kindergarten and years of insidious gerrymandering by the Republicans negated the will of the people and installed a totally inept man into the White House and instilled hatred across the land.

As with many of my fellow Americans, I don't consider myself partisan politically - never have. I am a registered independent voter and have been for most of my life. With that in mind, I submit the following:
Can we please get this out of the way? None of what is happening at the top of government now is normal. None of it. And no one should normalize it. No one.

We have a President who lies without a second thought. Big bold lies that are easily disproven. That is not normal.

We have serious allegations around obstruction of justice by that President. That is not normal.

We have an FBI director fired for insisting to continue pursuing a serious investigation into the sanctify of our republic. It has never happened before in our history. That is not normal.

We have a hostile foreign power attacking and undermining our electoral process. That is not normal.

We have an Attorney General under a serious shadow of association with said foreign power, with indications that there is much more to this story than we yet know. That is not normal.

We have Federal judges, our closest foreign allies, and the free press under scurrilous attack from the President and his enablers. At the same time we have despots praised. That is not normal.

We have an Administration fanning the flames of division over race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, and gender. That is not normal.

We have an overhaul of our entire health care system being written in secret on a rapid time frame. That is not normal.

We have a sordid confluence of the President's business interests and his political power. That is not normal.

The list could go on and on. And feel free to add your own to the comments section.

What concerns me even more than any of these items is the fact that they are largely being met by a shrug or excuses from most Republican elected officials. Even many Democrats seem overwhelmed and are inclined to let some of this just ride. That may be how politics works. But this is bigger. It's about our nation.

We are shifting the goalposts for our democracy. We are failing to be outraged by the outrageous because there is something even more outrageous that always seems to hit the news cycle. And that is dangerous.

What gives me hope is we have had waves of abnormality in our country's history. And we've had times when what we would consider now to be not normal, like segregation, was considered normal.

What has centered and saved our country time and again is civic engagement. I believe that most people in this nation don't think any of this is normal. And they could very well vote out those elected officials in both parties who are normalizing these outrages.

HOW SMART ARE WE?

America tests intelligence w/IQ exams, School ratings & psychological evaluations but leaves out one thing that stares us in the face every November.

We should add how voters act & react to policies put in place by politicians they voted for.

Will they vote for the same people next time even though the elected leaders did everything in their power to ruin the lives of their constituents?

For example, dt and the GOP have been trying to repeal our healthcare system ever since that black guy made it the law of the land. They want to take it away from 24 million Americans (sorry, the CBO now says it's only a mere 23 million Americans) and also remove social safety nets many have come to rely on such as Medicare and Social Security. And while they do that they'll be lowering taxes on the wealthiest among or rather over us!

Will the voters finally get it?

I doubt it!

But if some of them do then perhaps we can finally get back to a Democratic majority in both houses and to the business of really making America great again.

There are 528 days left until the midterm elections.

Every once in a while I am forced to admit that other people express their feelings as good as I do, and sometimes, choke, better.
This lady shows her intelligently controlled anger at an old SOB and former Wyoming Repub (naturally) Senator Simpson.  Whenever this dolt opens his mouth it's clear he should change his first name to Homer!
Here is the lady's response to Mr. Simpson after one of his recent brain farts:

Alan Simpson, the Senator from Wyoming calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared "Social Security " to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats. Here's a response in a letter from PATTY MYERS in Montana ... I think she is a little ticked off! She also tells it like it is!
"Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight!!!
1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole (tit) for FIFTY YEARS.
2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).
3. My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would make Bernie Madoff proud.

Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.
To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling "bullshit" to your incompetence.

Well, Captain Bullshit, I have a few questions for YOU:

1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?
2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?
3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?
4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?
It is you, Captain Bullshit, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the "greedy" ones. It is you and your fellow nutcase thieves who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers.
And for what? Votes and your job and retirement security at our expense, you lunk-headed, leech. That's right, sir. I have been paying in to the SS system for 45 years “It's my money”-give it back to me the way the system was designed and stop patting yourself on the back like you are being generous by doling out these monthly checks.
