WHAT ARE YOU WORTH?

Covid-19 is a deadly virus that has made the World sick.
It is our worst pandemic since 1919 and led to many actions and reactions.
Many countries are working hard to keep their remaining citizens safe and alive.

America is sadly not one of them, at least not as far as dt and the GOP are concerned.
The Repub leaders of America are concerned only with wealth and keeping it intact for themselves and their already well to do friends.
As far as they are concerned, humans are not worth the expense of keeping them alive!

So what is the value of a human?

In the 1950s someone came up with the absurd price of around $1.60.
Luckily since then our value has increased.
But it's still debatable.

According to "Data Genetics" we are worth just over $45 Million with our body's level of potassium being our most valuable element at $160.
That's just bananas, right?
Well, they claim we should eat more bananas since they are rich in potassium (see their chart.)

They seem to agree with a study done by the Indiana University School of Medicine.
They too claim the total value of a human body is, or was in 2005, OVER $45 MILLION!

In 2020 dollars it is closer to $60 Million!
Surprisingly, one group that may have funded the study, and links to it their website, is an insurance concern - Insure.com.

On the lower end of the value spectrum is this 2012 study by Medical Transcription.net which puts our value at just over half a million dollars.

That's quite a range of values.

Personally I feel life is priceless, at least mine is!
And that puts me at direct odds with the Repub Party which seems to be stuck in the 1950s.

But then they always did want to take America back, as in to the time before we emancipated African Americans and gave women the right to vote and figured out a way to help senior citizens in their later years with Social Security and Medicare.

But if you take the Indiana study for our worth then as of the end of May 2020 America has buried around $6 TRILLION in valuation and counting!

And that is nothing to sneeze at!

REPUBS ARE - H Y P O C R I T E S

Hate mongering:

While claiming to pray for civility in America the GOP loves to stoke the fires of hate. In order to divide and conquer America they have gone back to their tried and tested tactic of pointing to scape goats to blame them for whatever is wrong in our lives or the country. With the current racist in charge immigrants are the goat du jour even though the jerk in the White House hired them by the hundreds to work in his putrid country clubs.

Yuletide:

The party of family values – NOT – is always talking about a war on Christmas. But while there is not any such thing as a war on the holy holiday nor has there ever been such a war in America, they are the ones that constantly go against the teachings of the religion most closely associated with Christmas! If anyone debases the spirit of the season it is the repugnant Repub party!

Puppet:

The current flag bearer of the Repub Party famously called Hillary Clinton a puppet after she pointed out how the man-child was doing the bidding of Putin. It has now become clear that the misogynist’s mouth may have been moving and his arms waving but the strings were definitely being controlled in Moscow.

Others:

Republican constantly point to the others claiming they are doing illegal things. But whenever they do it seems they are the ones perpetrating the evil deed. Their constant claim that Dems are committing voter fraud was laughably contradicted when the documented case of voter fraud in a North Carolina congressional race came to light this past November. How come no Repub yelled and screamed about it? Could it be because the fraud was perpetrated by Repubs on behalf of a Repub candidate?

Climate change:

Repubs claim to care about our lives and the lives of our children but refuse to do anything about fossil fuels ruining the environment. It does not take a PhD to figure this one out, THEY ARE PAID BY THE FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY TO DENY GLOBAL WARMING EXISTS. Of course, they don’t care since most of them are old white guys who will be dead before the Earth kills the rest of us.

Red Lining:

Since they are a minority party in America redistricting or gerrymandering is the only way Repubs can get elected. Then they keep control over areas where the constituents would normally vote for Democratic candidates by tweaking the districts even further as needed. They say they are doing it to keep things fair. Even the courts, which have been stacked by the GOP have disagreed and told them to re-map the areas more correctly. We shall see if they comply.

Infidelity:

The most notable members of the GOP have cheated on their then current wives constantly and so many end up with 2 or 3 wives in the long run. I’m talking about you Newt, and you Rudy, and of course you dt! Many Repub voters have fallen for the ‘Family Values’ bull shit and therefore think that Dems are out to kill the family and abort every child they can. But most Dems in the public eye seem to raise wonderful families with just one husband and wife in the picture, such as the Obama family.  GOP = Family values, my ass!

Taxes:

Ever since the days of the GOP God Reagan Repubs have been telling Americans the lie of trickle down economics and the reason so-called job creators must be given tax breaks. They also claim they are giving the middle-class huge tax breaks. It’s funny how after 50 years of tax breaks from the GOP the Middle-Class has almost been taxed out of existence! After viewing what the Repub Party has been doing to nearly 98% of the country their catch phrase should be altered to Tinkle Down!

Environment:

Many Presidents in the past helped create the wonderful system of National Parks. In fact after becoming president in 1901, Republican Teddy Roosevelt used his authority to protect wildlife and public lands. He started the US Forest Svc, 150 national forests, 51 bird reserves, 4 national game preserves, 5 national parks & 18 national monuments totaling around 230 million acres of public land!  These treasures are continually under attack by the GOP as wastes of money when it is actually the GOP that is a waste of money. So in order to get rid of the wonderful places they insidiously change regulations to allow oil drilling in them or pipelines to go through them or just plain defunding them.

Social Services:

Many years ago the Repub party created the fear of Socialism among the citizens of America. They made the word synonymous with all things that are bad and anti-Democratic. Then they pivoted to vilify all things that help society but naturally cost tax dollars. And since they would rather keep those tax dollars for themselves and their wealthy donors, they used false statistics to show our huge national debt was cause by these social safety nets. The final straw came when they gave those donors and themselves an indefensible humongous tax break that caused the National Debt to soar past $21 TRILLION!! The phony fiscally conservative GOP who claimed they cared about the rising cost of government is now campaigning to do away with Social Security and Medicare in order to pay down the National Debt and fix the catastrophe they caused!

Put all the above together and ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Repub Party: HYPOCRITES!

Dreams, But Why Bother!

We seem to always have a political treatise or memoir hitting the book stands.  Most of them are self-serving and annoying.  But the number one job of a politician is to keep his job and basically not give a damn about yours!

A while ago a man who currently resides in the White House wrote a personal book that was not meant to garner him political gains, at least not yet.  The book was a big seller made even bigger with his eventual rise in World prominence.

This post merely uses his title to play off and it is with some small apologies to Mr. Obama that I do so.

But frankly it fits with the current atmosphere of America so...

In America we are all given a fair chance to succeed.  This is what we have commonly called the American Dream.

And we want that America Dream for ourselves and even more so for our children.

But just what is The Dream?

Back in 1928 it was simply a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage as then candidate Herbert Hoover pronounced.

Sadly after winning by a landslide over Alfred Smith he and his Republican Party could not deliver on his great claims. Funny that from them not much has changed in that department in the 4 score and 6 years since.

In fact the only thing great about his Presidency turned out to be the Great Stock Market crash and subsequent Great Depression.

The American Dream then became a next meal and a roof over one’s head.

Millions were out of work and looking to Washington for help.

Mr. Hoover did get some small accomplishments during his tenure such as increasing our Nation’s National Park footprint but basically far too little to help those who found themselves on the ground, literally!

It was the Great Depression that outlasted him and catapulted Franklin Delano Roosevelt into the White House.

And after several social programs were put in place by Mr. Roosevelt the nation appeared to be headed back in the right direction.

But we still needed something more.

And we got that nudge when Germany and Japan decided to take over the world.

World War II turned our economy around and it only took the lives of some 60 million people worldwide to do so.

Naturally there were many in politics upon whom that fact was not lost.  I mean the first part, the part about the economy, although the collateral damage probably slipped into their equation at some point.

These, for lack of a better term, war mongers realized the monetary benefit of war.  Of course only if they did not have to fight it themselves.

Former General Eisenhower famously warned about these hawk archetypes in his Presidential farewell speech when he coined the phrase, the vast industrial military complex.

And today that vast industrial military complex sucks the air out of America in many ways.

When the right wing continues to kow tow to their owners in the 1% by lowering their taxes while keeping the middle class down there is only one thing the country can do and that’s cut services!

Now of course you may say that we are all affected by service cuts but be real!  The uber wealthy do not need publicly funded services when they can literally buy an island with the petty cash in their pockets.

So service cuts hurt, harm and eventually kill the poor and middle class.

And let’s face it, when you’re dead the American dream is the least of your worries!

So we may still dream but between the Republican Party trying to gerrymander Democrats out of existence and the wealthy pulling the strings behind them there isn’t really any chance of a Disney ending for most Americans.

We will go into the big sleep with only our dreams perchance to keep our hopes alive.

Rudyard Kipling wrote “If you can dream—and not make dreams your master…“

Well we can dream but unless and until the American voter wakes up from their stupor and realizes what a terrible blight the Republican Party has become we shall only have dreams without any hope of achieving them.

And until then I must admit, Dreams? Why bother!

Must We Reap what the So and Sos Sow?

Throughout history people have understood that we reap that which we sow so is it any wonder that there is more anger in the air, more frustration than ever before?
Little by little this anger can be seen as a creeping weed invading the once plentiful garden of our country.
We see it in the words used in twitter to describe anyone not totally in agreement with our opinion. I have fallen into the trap myself and use so called bad words speaking about the right wing and conservatives of our Nation.
But to be fair and to use a childish refrain, they started it!
Now I realize that is no excuse to join them in the muck and mire of name calling but at some point the frustration of seeing the country and all the good people who deserve better getting less and less
becomes a strain on the walls of civility's dam.
We elect men and women to office that we feel have integrity to do what's the best for America, be it
the entire country or our State or even local county.
But instead of public service the job these people have decided is utmost on their agenda is raking in more money and getting reelected.
When I hear every Republican and especially members of their neo radical right wing aka the Tea Party refer to members of the party on the left side of the aisle as "My Democrat opponent" he or she is doing so from a script that says you must always demean them.
In case you don't know the use of the phrase or word Democrat in place of the correct term, Democratic is a childish attempt to use a word that rhymes with rat.
It is from the same right wing brain that tried to and is still trying to kill the affordable care act when they dubbed it Obamacare. They felt tying it to the one person they so despised that it makes them lose sight of not only the big picture but any picture was a good strategy!
Now we have a new insidious self-serving creature to deal with. A freshman Senator in Congress who fashions himself a new sort of savior for the country. He is using a mixture of McCarthy and (I hesitate to use the name so I will only hint at it) a former evil dictator of Germany to get his way.
And I say his way because that is exactly what it is, HIS WAY!
And those two words are the first part of what has become the Tea Party's mantra, Our Way or the highway!
Sadly their way is the LOW way as it could in fact bring down government. It most certainly will bring the government to a standstill and hurt a majority of people who do not seem to understand or remember the ramifications of what happens when good people don't stop bad people from doing bad things.
One thought looms large when thinking of this group of nay-sayers on the far right and that is, if you really hate government and want to shrink it to the size of a pea so you can flush it down the toilet one would think a job in government might not be your wisest choice!
But once again it is important to realize these people don't care about anyone but themselves so ruining government IS their end game. And in some delusional way they feel once that is accomplished the country will beat a path to their door for guidance on what to do next!
However I do not think anyone is completely evil in every respect, nor do i think anyone is completely without fault, except for me of course. Therefore I know that the junior Senator from Texas and many of his colleagues probably have some good points here and there.

When will we learn from history???
This type of evil maniacal  bastard CANNOT
be allowed to take over America again!!!

But I also know that they are going about it the wrong way.
As anyone with children will tell you temper tantrums rarely work out well for anyone involved but especially not for the one throwing the tantrum! After a while the sane rational thinking parents will push back. In this case we already see the less radical members of the Republican Party basically telling Cruz to shut up and let them do their jobs, such as it were.
As for America in this era of nearly total Tea Party takeover of the terrible Republican Party if things do not change what will be sown will only delight the GRIM reaper.
